Ideas

Okdongsik2.jpg

The Korean restaurant Okdonsik in Manhattan's Koreatown made its name by offering a single item on its menu:  dweji gomtang, a subtle yet deep pork soup, served with slices of pork over rice.  With this single dish it got a Michelin Bib Goumand rating, lavish praise and...

Lines.  Lines and lines of people waiting to get in.

So you can imagine how happy I was to see that there was an Okdonsik in Bayside, Queens1  So I trooped out there, and yes!  It's a wonderful little hole in the wall, and  the gomtang is subtle, complex and satisfying.

And in fact they do have a couple of other dishes, just in case!
